First Thursday of Every Month: 5:30pm - 10pm Guero's Taco Bar, Austin TX

On the first Thursday of each month in Austin, TX artisans of all kinds come out to display their wares to the public in an astounding event known as "first thursday". Starting in the early evening and lingering until late night, all are invited to stroll up and down South Congress avenue known for its independent businesses and style savvy. Be prepared to see just about anything from the "Volkswagen parade" to hand-crafted goodies by local artists.

I happen to participate in this monthly romp and encourage you to do the same. You can find me in the parking lot of Guero's taco bar. Its located at Elizabeth & South Congress avenue. So come by, say hello and see what Ive got going on each month. You will love it!

Austin Fashion Week August 14th - August 21st

Austin Fashion Week is set up as a series of events hosted primarily at participating retail and salon locations dotted throughout the city. Designers from the state of Texas will set up showcases within each participating retail and salon location.

Also during Austin Fashion Week, participants are competing for the Austin Fashion Awards. There are three major categories given away:

1) People's Choice Awards: All participants are eligible to win People's Choice Awards. The general public may vote online in categories like "Best Retail Store", "Best Overall Designer" and more. The winners will be crowned with "Golden Boots" at the Austin Fashion Awards on August 21, 2010.

2) Critic's Choice Awards: Approximately 100 of the city's most fashionable will vote on the Critic's Choice panel. This group will be determining niche categories like "Best Handbag Designer", "Best Use of Light in Photography" and more. These winners will be notified after Austin Fashion Week is over that they have won.

3) Peer Choice Awards: New for 2010, participants in each official category receive one vote to cast for one of their peers. For instance, a participating photographer may vote for one other photographer as "Best Overall Fashion Photographer" for 2010. The Peer Choice Awards will be announced at the Austin Fashion Awards on August 21, 2010.
